After installing Viveport a few days ago I was browsing the available titles and I noticed Pearl, a VR experience by Google Spotlight Stories. Its art style grabbed my attention, along with its generous price tag (it’s free!).
It’s a great experience and as such, I’ll keep this short as not to give anything away.
Set inside their home, a beloved hatchback, Pearl follows a girl and her dad as they crisscross the country chasing their dreams. It’s a story about the gifts we hand down and their power to carry love. And finding grace in the unlikeliest of places.
You experience this beautiful short story sitting on the passenger seat of a car, sharing the life of a father and his daughter as they grow and travel together.
Being a father with a young daughter myself, this story really got me in the feels! It’s full of emotion and told really well with the delightful art style, delicate voice acting and delightful music.
I was engrossed the entire time and really felt for the characters throughout. After watching Pearl I’m convinced that VR is a brilliant way to experience stories like this.
I’ll no doubt watch this again and I’m keen to share this experience with others in the future.
For me, Pearl is a must watch and as it’s free, you have no excuse!
